What trends are relevant in 2024? How is territorial design developing and evolving in our country and the world? Let’s figure it out.
Much time has passed since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which, one way or another, affected all spheres of human life. Landscape design was no exception.
After numerous restrictions, our country houses have become islands of solace and tranquility. The pandemic has reinforced the idea that landscape design is, to a large extent, therapy for modern man.
Today we will talk about new trends in the design of our sites.
1. Living spaces on the site.
We receive many requests for indoor living areas for a variety of outdoor needs that include all the indoor amenities.
The pandemic has left us yearning for normal social interactions. People have been forced to endure restrictions and social distancing. As a result, many have turned their outdoor spaces into indoor al fresco living rooms, playgrounds, dining rooms, and kitchens.
This year, the most important and significant trend is to leave the house and spend more time outdoors. An ordinary gazebo can become a relaxation area, a gym or a cool workplace. You can re-equip such areas into a cinema with a projector and audio system, and also try to implement other interesting ideas that are relevant to you.
“The designer’s task is to professionally connect the concept of such structures with the overall style of the site and the house.”
2. Swimming pools.
Striving for autonomy in their homes, our clients increasingly resort to installing medium and small sized swimming pools.
If you decide to install a swimming pool, then when starting landscape design, you should worry in advance about its location on the site, its shape, and also take into account technical rooms, places for sun loungers and an outdoor shower.
“Psychologists say that proximity to water, the ability to relax even in a small body of water, reduces anxiety, relaxes muscles, improves blood circulation and increases the overall stability of the immune system.”
3. Integration into the natural landscape.
Many of us are beginning to think more about nature and lovingly preserve certain elements, such as trees and shrubs and the natural terrain found on the property.
In such cases, it is enough to simply place some accents with greenery typical for a given natural zone and lay down rolled lawn, which will become a good background for the natural landscape.
“This philosophy allows us to minimize our impact on the natural landscape and feel its beneficial influence on people.”
4. Modern outdoor lighting.
Minimalistic yet professional landscape lighting continues to shine brightly in 2024 – whether it’s hidden lights illuminating garden paths, LED strips on pavers and stairs, or spotlights placed under trees.
This year we will continue to see more light sources being used in new, modern ways.
“The main trend in outdoor lighting is to use light not just to improve visibility in the garden, but to create a unique structure in the evening landscape”
5. Vertical gardens.
This is a great idea for greening small spaces. All you need is a wall to build a framework for the greenery.
A waterproofing film is used on the back side to prevent the surface from getting wet. Next, an automatic watering system is installed, and then the plants you have chosen are planted. In vertical gardening, it is highly recommended to use such crops as succulents of various types and colors, honeysuckle, lemon balm, and other ampelous plantings.
“Vertical gardening has become more common in our homes and offices, enlivening the space around us with a breath of green freshness.”
